A pleasure to behold as well as use, this unusual and aptly-named flatware pattern from Reed & Barton features a different sculpted shell design at the end of each handle. The dinner knife and soup spoon curl into a nautilus spiral, the dinner fork fans out into a scallop shell, the salad fork bursts with a round sand dollar, and the teaspoon ends in a pointy-tipped conch. Designed with oversized spoon bowls and gracefully long tines, the business ends themselves are quite dramatic, presenting a well-balanced whole for casual dining. Reed & Barton, one of the nation's oldest silversmith companies, is renowned for its stainless flatware in addition to its silverware. Made of heavy-gauge 18/10 stainless steel, this four-piece hostess set complements the place settings by providing a large serving spoon, a pierced serving spoon with surprising star-shaped holes, a sugar spoon, and a butter knife. The handle ends of the two large spoons curl sideways into a nautilus spiral, while the butter knife and sugar spoon handles form a pointy-tipped conch.
