Product Description Corelle Livingware dinnerware has the smarts and savvy to take what you dish out and still impress your most scrutinizing dinner guests. It is dinnerware that you can trust to stand up to the rigors of daily life and still look good. This classic pattern of black bands in a café style coordinates equally well with both contemporary and traditional home decors.

Italian terra cotta meets its American cousin December 31, 2008 Joseph Ekaitis (Southern California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
With some of her Christmas loot, Cathy replaced our old worn Chinese stoneware dishes with two of these sets so we'd have enough for company. Amazingly, the eight place settings stack in a fraction of the space the old stuff occupied, and the bowls nest so well there's no danger of them toppling when you lift the stack to reach for a dinner plate or a bread 'n' butter plate. They've become our everyday dishes except when pasta is on the menu, which we serve on our Italian glazed terra cotta pasta plates (a pasta plate has a shallow well in the middle). The Classic Cafe blue circular trim bears a family resemblance to the glazed terra cotta, and that's what caught Cathy's eye. The plates and bowls shrug off knife marks, spoon trails and fork scratches as if you were eating with plastic utensils. A trip through the dishwasher, and they sparkle like new. The old stuff was so scarred, half a can of Bar Keeper's Friend couldn't rub out the damage. Call me sentimental but every time I set the table or grab a plate for a quick bite, I just have to turn it over and see the phrase MADE IN USA. And, yes, I know the mugs come from places like China and Thailand. If only World Kitchen would bring back American-made white Pyrex (anyone remember it?) or Corning Ware Pyroceram as the base material for the mugs. Ah, well. . .
Not quality I expected for Corelle November 6, 2008 D. Bigelow The mugs are stoneware, made in China, and were green rather than the blue that was supposed to come with the set. The material is not quite the same as other Corelle pieces I've had before, and the stripes are not quite flush with the plates, bowls and salad plates (seem stamped on).
Great dishes October 14, 2008 Lor (Hockessin, DE) Perfect for college age kids (or anyone). They are sturdy, stylish, and inexpensive. I shopped around and amazon had the best price.
Our kitchen floor is not an oil-coated runway September 21, 2008 a>Ferrer (Pacific Northwest) and we're not supermodels---would that be the reason why our Corningwear never survives a slip? I've purchased 2 sets of this Corelle Livingware 'Classic Cafe Blue' to have a service for 8. In the past three years, five of the eight bowls have SHATTERED just from being accidentally dropped about four feet above a vinyl floor. Instead of just chipping or cracking, they break into small, dangerous, sharp shards. I took photos of the recent breakage (I was just drying the bowl with a towel when it fell out of my hands), planning to show the clerk at the Corelle store, but I don't even care to have them replaced. Homes with small children should avoid this type of dinnerware: the tiny, sharp pieces can be lost under a piece of furniture until the little fingers or toes find them. On the other hand, if you're not as clumsy as the folks in my home, it's an okay substitute for expensive china, so for that, I'd give it a star. Another star for the mugs: they're stoneware and none have broken yet.
Best Dishes Ever! May 9, 2008 Gautam Sarna (Santa Clara, CA) These are so light weight and durable, I just LOVE them! Hardly take up any space in the cubbards. Easily come clean. Haven't chiped or broken any yet!
