Excellent everyday bottle! November 19, 2008 E. Miller (East Coast USA) This bottle rocks!!! It keeps cold drinks cold, and hot drinks hot, for hours!!! It also doesn't have that funny taste many plastic, and some steel/aluminum bottles tend to have. The only downside to this bottle is that the rubber base is too big to fit in the standard cup holder. But that is such a minor issue...
Superior hot thermos.... June 7, 2008 sweetshamrock (New York) This Element 5 Thermos is my second purchase of the Element 5 line of products. Superior coffee thermos for travel. No leaks or temperature changes. Holds just enough coffee to get me thru the entire morning. I would highly recommend this product.
Convenient and sturdy May 9, 2008 Adrian Tam (Cambridge, MA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
In preparation for travel in parts of the world where the only drinkable water is boiled water, I set out in search of the right water bottle that could both (a) contain hot water without burning my hands and (b) attach to my backpack. I had been using a plastic Nalgene before, but the issue of leeching chemicals (particularly with hot water) became a concern. There were the convenient stainless steel (or aluminum) water bottles, but those conduct heat so intensely that you can't put anything too warm into them. I needed a thermos, but the problem was that most thermoses on the market didn't have a hook that could attach to a backpack--since most people use their thermos in their cars or at on office. This Thermos E5 20-Oz. Travel Mug (really a bottle) was the perfect fit for all that I was looking for. It's the right size (neither too big nor too small), it has a metal loop (and includes a carabiner), it insulates very well, and it is both safe and nearly indestructible (made completely from stainless steel, inside and out). There's also a couple perks: (1) The cap (top of the bottle) screws off to become a small cup to pour into, particularly helpful if drinking hot liquids. (2) The screw top (below the cap) has two "pour" arrows written on the top. You don't need to unscrew the entire thing to drink out of the bottle--you need simply to unscrew it slightly, and you can pour the liquid out in the direction of one of the "pour" arrows. I find this system to be perfect for somebody who wants something airtight yet also convenient to take constant drinks out of. All in all, this thermos bottle comes highly recommended; though if you can get it at your local Target store, it's a few dollars cheaper than on [...], and you don't have to pay for shipping. The only problems I have with the bottle are: (1) It's not a mug, so the product title can be confusing. (2) The screw top that holds the liquid inside is made of plastic. For those of you who drink a lot of warm liquids, I'm not sure whether the plastic on the bottom of the screw top will eventually leech. I imagine not, but that's something I wouldn't mind if Thermos changed in the future.
Keeps Cold Beverages Cold Too April 25, 2008 hunter548 (Western NY) Just bought one of these to take frozen smoothies to work in. Kept the smoothie icy for 15 hours. Brewed up a smoothie at night at 9:00PM (I'd left the stopper out and put it in the freezer for an hour before). Left it in the refrigerator overnight. Sat it on my desk from 6:00AM till noon. When I had it for lunch, the smoothie was still as frozen a consistency as when I made it. Great product......
A good Thermos bottle, but it ain't a Mug!! February 29, 2008 M. Corey (Skagit Valley, Wa USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I searched all over for a 20-oz Thermos E5 Travel mug. There's no such critter. Thermos lists this as a bottle. Target says it's a mug. I think the manufacturer probably knows more than Target. It's a darn good Thermos bottle, but if you want a mug, this isn't one!
