coffee not hot enough November 30, 2008 J. Warner (NY) This pot is brand new, and the coffee is not brewed hot enough. We drank it right away, not when it had been sitting in the carafe for awhile. I look forward to good strong HOT cup of coffee in the morning, and this was very warm coffe, not hot. There are other flaws, but I am not keeping this pot long enough to become familiar with them I am returning this to get a percalator, which is my favorite type of coffee pot anyway. Don't buy this if you want HOT coffee.
Very Unhappy! November 24, 2008 H. Singer (Northern MI) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
We are very unsatisfied with this product! I read all of the reviews posted here prior to purchasing it through this site. This is a poorly designed and poorly functioning coffeemaker. Hard to fill...small and poorly located pouring area and the quantity scale is difficult to see at same time. You have to use a separate pitcher. Carafe pours slowly and tediously and you have to almost turn it upside down to empty it. It is a pain to clean the ball valve on the lid. There are always murky remnants and sometimes grounds in the bottom of the carafe even when brewing small amounts of coffee. The "gold colored" filter is a nuisance to clean and we switched to paper cones instead. But the biggest and main complaint about this terrible appliance, is the fact that the so-called "thermal" carafe (which is the reason we purchased this brewer in the first place) DOES NOT keep coffee hot or even warm for more than 20-30 minutes. Why bother with the extra expense of a "thermal" carafe? We have tried pre-warming the carafe with near boiling hot water without much success. This renders the pre-programmable function useless. I wouldn't recommend this brewer to anyone and I can't understand the positive reviews posted here. I was informed by Cuisinart that I could return the carafe for a replacement at my own shipping and handling expense(on a brand new appliance!). So much for consumer support. We are not even certain it isn't the brewing temperature itself that isn't the problem. My advice: don't even think about buying this product. The price has been reduced $20 since I purchased it 1 month ago. It is an extremely bad choice even at the new price.
Cuisinart Coffee maker November 12, 2008 Sue Scott (Illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using this coffee make for about 30 days and am quite satisfied. The Stainless steel pot keeps the coffee hot; how long depends on how much is in it - the more, the longer it stays hot. It looks good and does not take up much room on the counter. I particularly like that it shuts off completely after brewing; no hot plate that keeps clicking on and off. The only negative feature, but one i'm willing to live with involves having to turn the pot almost upside down to get the last of the coffee out. But it's a minor thing.
Well built, makes good coffee November 10, 2008 looseduke (West Hartford, CT USA) Inexpensive and essential, with a very good carafe which keeps the coffee warm for hours. Makes good coffee, and the programming is intuitive. Pouring the water requires a steady hand, but is doable. Don't buy if you have shaky hands though. I would recommend it to a friend.
Good so far! November 8, 2008 Julia F. Shirkey 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We had a Mr. Coffee which we hated. So, we got this one about 3 months ago. So far, we like it. The only complaint that I have is that I have to unscrew the lid in order to pour out the last little bit of coffee left at the bottom of the pot.
