Love My Keurig!! December 4, 2008 Christine Smith (Andalusia, AL United States) My son gave the B40 to me as a Christmas present last year. I use the Black Tiger extra bold and find that it makes a good strong cup of coffee. Amazon sends it by the month for a reasonable charge and I love the convenience. There is only one drawback: it does make quite a bit of noise during brewing, but the end result is worth it. It takes a couple of minutes to warm up and brews quickly. I love my Keurig!
B40 Elite -- Not really all that bad! December 2, 2008 Allergy Guy (Montreal, Canada) Some thoughts on the product - 1- The brew strength is kind-of weak, even on the bold blends, and even if you buy the reusable filter and fill it to max. If you're used to fairly strong coffee, though, you need to steer away from all the measured systems, be they filter packs, coffee pods, or K-cups, so this problem isn't unique to Keurig. 2- Noise. Yeah, it's a bit noisy, and it does have a formidable vibration. I suggest you buy some 3M rubber stick on feet for the bottom of the unit, as it reduces the amount of transfer considerably. Sort of annoying that the manufacturer didn't do this. 3- Reliability. There are some reports (here) of early failures. It should be noted that some of those reviews are for the older B40 (not the Elite), and some indicated they were making 20+ cups a day with the unit, which arguably may exceed the intended duty cycle for a unit with a 6-8 cups reservoir. Anyway, if you send in the warranty card, you're covered for a year, and if you start to see the "short pour" problem, you should de-scale right away, and call Keurig if it isn't resolved. 4- Cost. Yes, the K-cups are pretty costly compared to buying coffee by the pound. The fill-it-yourself adapter helps, and there's another adapter to use senseo coffee pods, which are supposed to be cheaper. Quite a bit of choice here. Anyway, it's a good bit of fun regardless. It's tough to market a machine like this to aficionados, because what it produces is really tailored to a more mainstream consumer.
Super convenient, especially at work. December 1, 2008 D. Freedman (Attleboro, MA USA) I really enjoy the convenience of my Keurig brewer. It's easy to use and clean. The only con is that the coffee is a bit on the weak side. I think Keurig needs to figure a way to have the hot water pass more slowly through the coffee grounds. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the brewer.
Absolute Genius November 30, 2008 M. Merrill (San Diego, CA) Short and simple. I am so happy that I bought this. I'm in love from the get go. I would recommend this to anyone.
A "Must-Have" for the Holidays or any other Family Gathering November 30, 2008 Timothy Riley (San Antonio, TX USA) I own a Keurig B70 and I use it all of the time, however, my oldest daughter is not a coffee drinker and doesn't even own an imitation Mr. Coffee. When we went to her house in Albuquerque for Thanksgiving I sent a Keuring B40 to her so that it would arrive before we did. It was the hit of the gathering! I brought a lot of K-Cups from my collection to add to the sampler that comes with the machine. We went through over a hundred pods in the two days that the group (about 15 people) was there. Hot chocolate was a popular beverage for many, as were the assorted coffees and teas (for some reason Hazelnut seems to be the preferred flavored coffee for all of my guests). I even brought some of the holiday themed coffees which are available from Keurig during this time of the year, like "Gingerbread" made by Green Mountain and "Perfectly Pumpkin" by Timothy's. A little whipped cream made the coffees perfect. Everyone got what they wanted and they all just helped themselves (which my daughter loved!). The B40 is about half the price of the B70 and although it has less features (it makes two sizes of drinks instead of 4 and the reservoir is not lighted) no one cared, not even me. I added the carousel to complete the package. The family is meeting again right after Christmas, this time in Arizona and I am sure the Keuring will make the trip and be a welcomed addition to the festivities. This is a great value and perfect for entertaining. Keurig K-Cup Carousel
