Just insert the Delphi XM SKYFi radio receiver (model SA10000) into the Boombox dock, and you're ready to go.  | | The SKYFi radio receiver inserts neatly into the SKYFi Boombox for satellite radio wherever you want to take it. | Note that the SKYFi radio receiver is available separately and requires a monthly subscription. The convenient, portable SKYFi Boombox offers great sound with dual-cone stereo speakers (also referred to as full-range speakers), featuring a great range of lows and highs. The SKYFi Boombox is powered by a 12-volt AC adapter (included) or six D batteries. You'll get a clear XM reception with the included high-gain antenna, which transmits the radio signal to a highly focused area. It is recommended that the antenna be positioned near a south-facing window or outdoors with a clear view of the southeastern sky in order to receive the satellite signal. What Is XM Satellite Radio?
XM Satellite Radio was the first satellite radio service to be offered in the U.S. It features a state-of-the-art broadcast center in Washington, D.C., two Boeing 702 satellites (providing 18 kW of power--the most powerful commercial satellites ever built), and approximately 800 terrestrial repeaters located throughout the continental United States for seamless transmission. Service is not available in Hawaii or Alaska. XM Satellite Radio offers 101 channels, including 70 music channels, over 35 of which are commercial-free, and 31 news, sports, talk, and children's channels, broadcast coast to coast in digital quality. Basic service is available for a monthly subscription fee of $9.99, with premium channel(s) available at an additional monthly cost. This is a great way for my husband to have access to his xm while fixing up around the house. It works perfectly. The only problem is the batteries wore out in only one day.

I think this sounds ok. It sounds like something you'd get for $100, so it's not bad, but definitely not for audiophiles.
It looks good. If you're going to keep it in one place, it will stay looking good. If you want to move it around a lot, it's probably not a good buy for you, since it's not very sturdy.
The volume control on mine has never really worked. It gets really loud, or really quiet. A good way to annoy people in your home or office.
Right now, Amazon is selling it for $35. It's worth that. You may be better off just buying an adapter and hooking your XM receiver up to your normal stereo though.

I've had this over a year now and take receiver out of it every day at work. Nothing has broken and the speakers really sound awesome for this size.

GOT A GREAT PRICE FOR THIS RADIO. IT HAS A GOOD SOUND QUALITY AND UNFORTUNATELY IT IS THE ONLY ONE FOR THE XM DELPHI SKY2 RADIO. BUT I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN

I purchased this unit for my SkiFi2 receiver about 2 months ago and have found this to be a great additon for this unit. Whether painting outside or taking it to the lake the boombox has performed very well. So far I am still on my initial set of batteries and have about 8-9 hours of runtime on them. Others have written that they are only experiencing about 3-4 hours of battery time. I am not sure if the brand of battery can make the difference but I have been running the Duracell Brand and it seems to work just fine.
I like the adjustments for bass and treble control when this unit is docked into the boombox. Equally, the volume output seems more than sufficient when we are out at the lake with friends for an evening of rest and relaxation. They like the variety of music offered through this service as well as the MLB games selection.
As far as the humming some say they have experienced, I have not had that issue either. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this to anyone interested in expanding the use of their XM SKIFI unit beyond automotive use.
