| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Bacon in the microwave? Most people would say when pigs fly! But thanks to the Presto PowerCrisp, it's easy to prepare crisp, extra-lean and undeniably delicious bacon right in your microwave, and without all the added fat. One-year limited warranty. Model 05100.
Amazon.com Review Bacon is excellent with Sunday brunch fixings or on a turkey club sandwich, but many don't cook it often at home because of the high fat content and the mess. The PowerCrisp just may change all that by providing a leaner and cleaner way to make bacon. This microwave bacon cooker cooks bacon either to a crisp or a soft consistency, depending on how much cooking time it's given it in the microwave. It has a pair of tent-shaped plastic racks that are easy to load by simply draping strips of bacon over them. The racks rest within a 2-inch-deep tray, which collects all the fat drippings as bacon cooks so the meat is not sitting in its own grease as with stovetop frying. And, as opposed to pan-frying, there is no splatter involved when cooking bacon in the microwave. Simply place a paper towel over the racks and it captures any grease and keeps microwave walls clean. The wraparound handle makes it easy to remove the PowerCrisp from a microwave turntable and dispose of hot drippings without burning hands. Slotted tops on the two plastic racks allow you to slide a knife through the racks to remove cooked bacon. The PowerCrisp cooks up to 10 strips of bacon at a time and both racks and the bottom tray are completely dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. Presto covers this microwave bacon cooker under a two-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Not worth it December 17, 2008 DuBois (Westerville, OH USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I used to use one of these. Save your money by microwaving your bacon like this: lay a couple layers of paper towel on a microwavable plate or platter. Lay the bacon on the paper towel, then cover with at least one layer of paper towel to prevent spattering. The paper towels absorb the grease. If you like, you can even do additional blotting of the bacon afterwards with paper towel. I feel that this approach eliminates as much grease as using this contraption, and it is easier to clean up afterwards.
Best thing since sliced bread! December 16, 2008 Jonathan K. Dall I've owned one myself for a while and decided to pull an Oprah, It's one of my favorite kitchen gadgets and all my friends are going home with one!
Crisp Bacon December 14, 2008 Orwell (Washington, Ct.) Does a nice job. The bacon is crisp and the majority of the fat is rendered out. In most microwaves the focus of the radiation is low and in the center of the oven, because of this it takes longer to cook the bacon with the Presto because of its vertical configuration.
Very good product December 12, 2008 G. Levin (New Jersey) Makes much better bacon than using a horizontal tray with paper towels. Fat drips off, so bacon is crisp, unlike most microwaved bacon.
Microwaved bacon with this is inconsistent December 5, 2008 P. Probst 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've found this product to be so-so. After using it several times, I've concluded that traditional pan fried bacon tastes much better with a more satisfying texture. The best thing I can say about this bacon cooker is that it is a relatively simple process and the bacon doesn't sit in grease at any time while cooking. The results, however, have varied from poor to mediocre so I'll probably stick with pan fried bacon for 5 or less rashers or bake it in the oven when I need lots of rashers at the same time, which has always come out great. Also, this product is less easy to clean than either a fry pan or a baking tray, which are each a single surface. With this, you have to clean 5 separate components.
