Okay December 26, 2008 RCL 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Received this as a gift. I was actually going to purchase the Breville Juicer (which has gotten outstanding reviews), and then received this. It works okay, but after the second use, the motor sounds weird. Almost as if it is going to die or burn out soon. I've never owned a juicer before, but there seems to be a large amount of vegetable pieces in the pulp container. I think I will try what another reviewer said : to run the larger "pulp" pieces through the juicer again. From what I've read, I will use it until it "dies" and then purchase the Breville. It's okay. Nothing great here with this product.
Not Black and Decker quality December 20, 2008 Daniel E. Otten (New Jersey, but miss Long Island) For your first juicer this is not bad but don't let the possible negative experience deter your aspirations to enjoying juicing. There are more expensive juicers out there using much better materials and better designed. Think of this as your first car where you gain experience and experiment. Using this machine does cause a mess and I found it loud. After coming out of the dishwasher there were times it was still not clean. Have fun.
Inexpensive Juice Extractor - Better Available December 11, 2008 CFH (Blue Ridge Summit, PA USA) The "Black and Decker JE2060" is a fairly inexpensive juice extractor and in this case you get pretty much what you pay for, nothing more. The unit sets up fairly quickly and is very easy to use. The design uses lots of transparent plastic so you can let the kids watch the process (which is cool), but that is where the fun stops. The juice extraction is not very efficient so we have taken to running the pulp through a second time and always get a good bit more out of it. Also, the capacity is fairly small so it may not have been the best choice for a family of four. The cleanup is not difficult, just messy because there is a lot of surface area. This is a good starter juicer and the low price makes it an inexpensive experiment to see if a juicer is something you really want to use. We don't think that a bigger, better juice will do our family much good so will likely just keep this one. You can likely fine a better juicer for just a little more money.
Disposable juicer, broke after 12 uses, no customer service May 1, 2008 ComedyBoy (Los Angeles, CA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I needed a juicer while staying away from home for a month and, trusting the B&D name, I got this one. Yes, it's cheap, but I didn't expect for it to stop working altogether after 12 uses. It didn't burn out. Something about the cheaply made safety switches just didn't allow it to run. It started getting tricky after about 8 uses and then at 12, it gave out altogether. On emailing the contact on the warranty, I was informed that they were not Black and Decker at all but a third party. They weren't able to do anything but service it, which meant that I had to mail or transport it to their location. By this time, I was going back home and the only thing I could do was throw it in the trash. It's distressing that B&D does so little to back up their product, but if you know you've made a disposable product, I suppose that's how you handle it. Unless you only need a juicer for a week, buy something else. I use the Omega 4000 Juicer at home (actually I use the Omega 1000 but the 4000 has replaced it.) I just bought my parents the Lequip 306175 mini Pulp Ejector Juicer White Model 110.5. Both of these are workhorses. The Omega will outlive me, and I'm not old. The Lequip is an auto-ejector that costs three times the Black and Decker, but it's worth 20 or 30 times more since it won't break on you immediately with no recourse to a customer service department.
