Product Description Now you can easily create popular, delicious grilled Panini sandwiches in your own kitchen. Good-looking and efficient, this press has extra-large double coated nonstick flat cooking plates to evenly heat sandwiches and bread.
Amazon.com Review Some sandwiches are just better toasted, and the Breville Maxi 2-in-1 panini press allows that all sandwiches might be. With its flat cooking plates and adjustable depth, the press does everything from reheating grilled cheese to creating café-quality focaccia sandwiches. A floating top plate and ten depth settings let you tailor use to your preference, recipe, or ingredients, and create consistent results whether sandwiches are wafer-thin or packed full. A 1500-watt appliance, the press has a sturdy structure with high-powered wiring concealed in the heavy metal arms to keep operation safe. Warm up and ready lights make the cooking process more efficient, and the Quasar Rockcote nonstick plates wipe down well while letting you cook with little or no fat. Helpful details range from the hidden cord wrap to the non-skid feet, and the whole unit can be stored flat or on its side in tighter spaces. As with other Breville devices, the power cord has an unusual and helpful plug design with an easy-grab fingerhole. Sized for up to four full-scale sandwiches at a time, the press is suitable for sliced or bakery bread and comes in handy from breakfast on through to late-night snacking. It also looks good on your countertop in a matte black and gleaming chrome finish. --Emily Bedard

Find one and get it November 29, 2008 Andy H. (San Francisco, CA) I've been using one for probably 3 years and I couldn't live without it now. I love to toast english muffins, cook veggie burgers, and of course grill sandwiches with it. Let's not forget grilled homemade burritos... practically a staple for me. Flat plates for the win!
Heads up on pricing.... July 4, 2008 Kitchen Diva (Baltimore, MD) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just a heads up here on pricing for this panini press - For some reason Amazon is selling this Breville SG820XL Maxi 2-in-1 Panini Press for $149, but it is available for $79 EVERYWHERE else. Check online sources, Bed & Bath, and others. Sorry, I love Amazon, but something is VERY wrong here.
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE June 23, 2008 Taylor J. Simpson 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this product expecting a brand new product, as there is nothing stating otherwise. When I got it, come to find out that: 1)This product was previously purchased 3)This product was then returend to seller and was in turn bought by the seller on this page. 3)This product was broken
All I can say is wow! June 8, 2008 Wiseallek (Arizona) This thing is so well made and it's uses are virtually endless. We make pancakes, omlets, panini sandwiches, french toast, garlic bread, quesadillas, burgers and more on it. There are literally a hundred different ways you can use it. I did tell my husband that if I could choose only one kitchen appliance to use it would be this thing!! It blows that silly GT express out of the water!! We bought it a while ago and we still use it ALL THE TIME.
Breville No Longer Makes This Model June 3, 2008 Robert Ruiz (California - USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
You're better off buying the Breville BGR400XL Ikon 1800-Watt Removable-Plate Grill than buying this. It does a lot more than just make Paninis and it gets really hot for searing meat, and it's 1800 watts versus the 1500 of this model. Breville no longer makes this. They make a Panini maker sold only on their web site and through Williams-Sonoma, but for the same price you can get the Ikon and it has removable plates you can wash in the dishwasher as well as those 300 extra watts. It'll do paninis AND a lot more for the same price. And as for those removable plates, you have the option of using the flat side or the side with ridges by just turning them over. And by the way, if you JUST want paninis you don't need a panini maker. You can use a flat griddle on your stove or a Lodge Logic cast iron frying pan (excellent and dirt cheap!) and you can weight the sandwich with a brick wrapped in tin foil and turn it over halfway through the cooking. It works just fine.
