Thermal cooking great for Airstream camping November 29, 2008 W. Lafferty (Tucson, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Thermos Nissan Cook N' Carry is a great addition to your home kitchen but even more so in your RV or travel trailer. It works much as a crock pot slow cooker except that you do not need electricity. To try it out, we made a green chili stew that was about as good as it gets. After browning the meat (pork butt roast cut into 1" cubes) and adding the rest of the ingredients and the meat to the stainless steel "pot". The nascent stew was brought to a roiling boil and then simmered for five minutes. The stew pot was then lowered into the Thermos portion of the Cook N' Carry, the lid was locked and 6 hours later opened to a perfect green chili stew. The only negative one might mention is that the Cook N' Carry is not cheap.
A Must for Portable Hot Food October 7, 2008 Chu H. Choi (Boston, MA USA) If you prepare food for people and need to take it with you, this Cook N' Carry is totally worth the money. It's lightweight, but very sturdy, making it the perfect takealong item. We use it for get-togethers and church functions all the time, and it's SO handy where there's no outlet and MUCH easier than bringing a heavy slow cooker sloshing with sauce/soup/stew. It's got dual double-walled vaccuum walls, meaning food stays hot (or cold) much longer than you ever thought possible. You can cook something now and serve it hot hours later. Simple design with a great carry handle, and it holds quite a bit of food. The stainless steel is super easy to clean. Highly recommended. Some people mention using this as a slow cooker, where you just let it cook in its own heat, but why would you pay $150 for that when a slow cooker (with a timer) can be had for $20-30?
What a great idea! July 26, 2008 GetPreparedStuff (Utah) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
What a great idea! I've been using one for sometime now and I'm amazed at what it can be used for and how great things taste when cooked with. It's a must have item for your kitchen and more! I found some great info, recipes and demonstrations on using a thermal cooker at this weblog: http://thermalcooker.wordpress.com/category/thermal-cooking/
How did I cook without it? April 17, 2008 Yahtzee! (San Francisco, CA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Worth every penny. I don't like the idea of leaving things plugged in and on when I'm not homme, fearing an electrical fire. I used this thing when I lived in the dorms at school (with a good hotplate to get it started for ten minutes, then you put it in the thermal insulator and let it stay there) I'd come home from a long day of classes to a full hot meal. So awesome. Now, I use it to cook my steel cut oats, and make my batch for the week. I have taken it camping as well, so I set everything for lunch going, and then I have all day to enjoy, and at lunchtime everything is hot and ready to serve. If something happened to mine, I'd definitely get another!
BEST & Safest cookingware that's in my kitchen December 15, 2007 Colin Wong 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have had my Nissan Thermal Cookware for a few years now. And have been hunting to buy more for extended family. The product is very simple to use. Just bring your stews or soups or meats (like Mexican style carne asada or Irish corne beef) to a boil on your stovetop, put the pot in the thermal enclosure... and leave the pot to self cook the meal for a few hours. It's great! I'm really phobic about leaving electrical devises on when I'm not home. And I'm very happy that this Nissan cookware requires NO ELECTRICITY! I recommend the product because it is easy to clean and safer than using a crockpot. I sure hope Amazon is able to keep this product available & 'in-stock'!!!
