 Horrible -- overpriced, flimsy, hard to clean December 30, 2008

Simply an insult to the once-meaningful name of Bosch. This is NOT your mother's Bosch. It's a cheaply made, expensively priced finicky machine that takes 10 minutes to put together and 20 minutes to clean. I have no idea why it received so many favorable reviews. Perhaps some folks are very gadgety, engineering-type people. I'm not. But I know a serious downgrade in quality when I see one and this is it. I can shred meat faster by hand or in a $20 food processor from the local Wal-mart. It sort of kneads dough, but not nearly as well as my bread machine. It shimmies like a dollar-store space shuttle with bread dough. As for the other functions, I'm not bothering to find out. It's going back ASAP.

Yes, small counter space. Yes, good blender, shredder and mixer.
Did anyone used it for mixing dough ? it bends and curls on the counter .. like someone would ride a bike with wheels made of plastic. Not enough power, not enough strength in the parts. NOT for making bread dough - that is an overstated use. Probably good for mixing stuff for cakes.
And my previous mixer the knife blades were close to the bottom of the bowl - which would allow to mash any vegetable. The bowl has a round bottom perfect for mixing fluids, but not for mashing them.
With that being said - excellent shredder and blender.

I have the universal model, it is the most powerful machine that I have ever used. I also have a Kitchen Aid Ultrapower, and I get so frustrated with it, and Bosch is way better.

I love to bake and cook. I have gone thru countless food processors either they break or wear out quickly. I have carpel tunnel and arthritis so beating things by hand, holding a mixer and grating by hand is not an option for me. I hate having tons of different kitchen appliances taking up room. In looking to replace my last broken food processor I came across this little gem. I just made a strawberry bundt cake (my dear departed mother in laws recipe) that has a very thick batter. I was amazed at how quickly and thoroughly this powerful little machine whipped it up !
I haven't tried it for anything else yet, but I am IMPRESSED ! I would cry if someone tried to take it away from me !
(My Mom was so impressed, she just ordered one as well !)

The item that is pictured is not correct, the company admitted to this and gave me the option of sending it back, or give me $20 off, I took the $20 off as I picked it up in the US (I'm from Canada) and already payed duty on it.
I tried out my BOSCH MUM4420, and it worked beautifully in every aspect. I did a lot of research before purchasing this product, and it payed off. The mixer works great; I have used it for a lot of Xmas baking, the shredder I am very satisfied with, and the Blender works well with ice, as long as you dont over fill it. I make smoothies at least once a week, and find that if there is too much in it, it will jam up. So I only do 1/2 portions at a time, and once blended I add more and continue. I am still playing around with the mixer to find out what works best.
It does everything for me and more. I am very happy with my purchase and would recomend it to anyone who loves to cook and bake. I plan to buy the additional food processor in the future.
