5 cup, square top break resistant plastic blender jar. Made of ultra strong break resistant Makrolon plastic. Fits all Oster blender models using a 5 cup jar with a square top. Fits all Oster Kitchen Center models. This is the most common Oster jar type. All Kitchen Centers use this type of jar. This will fit all Oster blenders, but if your is a VERY old model (40 years old), using a 4 cup jar or a new model using a 6 cup jar, your lid will not fit and you may need to purchase the OS-060 lid and cap.

The description says the jar is made of Makrolon, which is a specific brand of polycarbonate, also known as Lexan. It is not plain old plastic - in fact it is more durable than its glass counterpart and costs more to manufacture. It may feel like ordinary plastic but it is not. It is heat resistant and will take 212 degree boiling water without damage or cracking, and is extremely difficult to scratch. It is used in skyscrapers for its optical clarity, high impact strength, and weather resistance. Armored vehicles use a different grade of it to deflect bullets. Even the food grade version, for all practical purposes, is virtually unbreakable. Medical laboratories use it because it is non-reactive. It won't absorb odors like cheap tupperware.
This jar isn't made by or endorsed by Oster but is an aftermarket part. Most commercial blender jars used in professional kitchens are made our of this same stuff, it is definitely not the same plastic junk used in many of the cheap blenders sold at your local big box retailer. Considering it costs less than a glass replacement jar from Oster, this is a great value. Just make sure this is the jar for your model, because Oster has several different styles.

When you do a keyword search on Amazon for replacement Oster blender jars, the results page leads you to believe that these are actual Oster branded blended jars. When you click on a specific item you realize that these are just cheap knock-offs that are suppose to fit all Oster blenders. Of course they don't actually fit all Oster blenders or else I would not have to return this cheap knock-off that was priced almost as much as the real deal.
In initiating my return I followed the online instructions directing me to Goodman's website to print a return form. Of course the Goodman's website asked for the Goodman's order #, NOT the Amazon order #. I of course did not have the Goodman's order # because my blender jar arrived without any documentation at all in the box. I sent Goodman's two emails, neither of which they responded to. After I contacted Amazon for a refund, Goodman's finally sent me a generic email directing me to their website, which of course asked me for the Goodman's order # which had never been sent to me.
I guess the reality is that the blender jar probably only cost Goodman's 50 cents -it is that horribly cheap looking- so they don't care if I keep it even while Amazon refunds my money.
