Product Description A variety of attachments for your Kitchen Aid stand mixer.
Amazon.com Review This assortment of attachments makes your KitchenAid stand mixer as flexible as a Swiss army knife. You get the food grinder, the slicer and shredder, and the fruit and vegetable strainer. Pull out the first and you're grinding meat, breadcrumbs, and more; the second churns out sliced vegetables for potato chips, coleslaw, and the like, or shredded potatoes for hash browns; and the third has you whipping up apple butter in a snap. Each has its own instruction booklet, with tips and recipes. An excellent gift set for your favorite stand-mixer fan. --Betsy Danheim

Kitchen Aid Attachment package August 16, 2010 Phil B (Benton, KY) Received package in a very timely manner. The part that removes the skin and seeds is what we needed ... and it works wonders for making tomato juice. We actually had fun sing it. Haven't used the rest of the stuff, 3 grinders. After getting this it looks like all I would need to make spaghetti is a set of strainers.
Very nice product.
Some parts are good. July 13, 2010 TK (Notre Dame, IN) We have never used the slicer. Doesn't seems to deliver better result than hand slicing. The meat grinder is OK, we use it frequently.
The fruit strainer is a piece of crap. Stuff coming out everywhere.
I advice you to buy the grinder only.
First evaluate what kind of cooking you do to see if you'll use these... June 20, 2010 Boardingace (San Diego, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
For this particular pack of three kitchenaid attachments, I would recommend that you pay particularly close attention to exactly what sorts of things you like to cook, before investing in a very large package of plastic gadgets that may just collect dust. If you won't use all three, don't buy this packaged deal - buy the ones you'll use individually. I'll review my recommendations on which might work for what sort of cook:
The meat grinder - the most elusive of the three attachments, you really want to think long and hard about whether you'll use this before you buy it. If you're country folk and regularly grind hunting meat, read the other reviews on how well (or not well) this works. But if you're city folk like me, the only reason you need this is if you are extremely particular about your food and don't "trust" grind meat, or want to make sure that you are getting the highest quality ground beef. Because you can then buy an expensive steak and turn it into ground beef. Personally, this is WAY too much work, I try to avoid cooking with beef too much anyways, and I really don't care that much about the quality of ground beef I buy...at least not enough to pay much more money and spend much more time to create something that goes into taco meat or a casserole. But that's (really) just me. If you already grind meat, or would be interested in taking the time to do the above things, then definitely you will get some good use out of this attachment.
The slicer/shredder - this one is debatable. On one hand, this is WAY too much of a hassle to take out just to slice/shred a small amount of food. Allow me to illustrate if you need to shred 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Option 1 - you don't buy the slicer/shredder. You reach into the cabinet, grab your dime store shredder, place it over a cutting board, and start shredding by hand. Time to complete task: 90 seconds. Option 2 - you buy the slicer/shredder, thus feeling obligated to use it. You take the mixer cover off your mixer. Unattach the knob on the front. Take out your manual and remember how to attach it. Attach the 5 parts together or whatever it is. Take out a knife and sharpen it, take out your cutting board, and slice the cheese into smaller blocks. Turn on the mixer. Feed the pieces of cheese through the mixer. Time to complete task: 3-5 minutes depending on how often you've done this. Clean-up: A LOT MORE. HOWEVER, if you have a large family or love to entertain, this is AWESOME. When you suddenly have 5-10 times as much to shred, especially tough things like carrots, mushrooms, or stuff that would take forever to get through 10 cups of, then suddenly 3-5 minutes is heaven. And the clean-up...is so worth it. So think about what you'd actually use this for, and then decide.
The strainer - this one is also debatable. I use it to make soups, and it separates out the solids, which most recipes don't account for. Technically I'm pretty sure that a food processor or blender is better. Maybe it's good for baby food?
I'm still trying to get more comfortable with these attachments (hoping I'll then use them more) by working my way through "The Mixer Bible" book, though I've had better cookbooks.
I probably wouldn't have bought these attachments in retrospect (LOVE the ice-cream maker and pasta makers (the metal ones) as they have changed my LIFE as the food is SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!), but it depends - as in everything - on your tastes and what you cook most often.
Excellent Addition to the Mixer June 15, 2010 A. J. Migliaccio (Concord, NC) We purchased the 3 pack of accessories which included the meat grinder, vegetable shredder and strainer. I have only used the grinder and shredder and it is really awesome. I shredded cheese on one instance and potato's for hashbrowns on another. Clean up was very easy. Looking forward to using the strainer for Tomato Sauce and Applesauce in the upcoming seasons. Also this was an excellent price for all 3 as they typically run $50+ excluding tax and time in the local stores... Do the math you get all 3 for $35 a piece.. To me, great buy for an excellent product !
Kitchenaides and Attachments last forever. May 25, 2010 Toria (Springfield Mo.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Somehow, When My Great Grandmother of 98 yrs. past away I recived alot of great things and some unusal things as well. One item was her old Kitchenaide mixer. It dated to 1906. My huband set it up pluged it in and it worked like the day it was first bought. My Great Grandparents had bought every single attachement with the mixer They all still work perfectly. (the recipt was in their personal book keeping) Today I have a new kitchaide simply because I like the color. While I've had alot of fancy food processors I've killed nearly all of them. Kitchenaide atteachemnts are basic simple objects that last forever. The old attachements still work on the new machines because of those basic soliddesign principles.
If I was starting out buying a whole new set mixer and attachements I don't know if I wouldn't do the same thing my Great Grandparents did, I would buy everything. When you buy a Kitchenaide it's going to outlast anything else you ever buy for the kitchen, so Just get all the attachments you can afford or want. Add to the collection over the years if you need to. Your buying an item that will be around for your Great-Granddaughter to use.
