Product Description The Rowenta Powerglide DX-1900 Iron with Cord Reel is about as good as an iron gets. Its features include a stainless steel soleplate, cool spray mist for tough wrinkles, self-clean system, automatic cord reel and a three-way auto-off function to guard against accidents. A vertical steam system also makes quick work of hanging garments and drapes. The 3-way auto-off function switches iron off in eight minutes if left vertically, 30 seconds if left horizontally and 30 seconds if tipped over. The water tank holds 8.5 oz. Extra-large, transparent water tank 1500 watts

Great Iron; When it Worked; Out of Warranty November 12, 2008 James M. Patton (Kentucky) The iron was great for approximately the warranty period. Ok, to be fair we did get a couple of months past warranty. Now it will not work and Customer Service says oh sorry no longer under warranty. So..., you think I will ask what do you think the cost of repair will be for an auto off function that is continuously engaged and they tell you we don't know you will need to contact the closest service center. The service center tells you by recording, over and over, how your call is important and that they are open conveniently enough at the time you are calling, but apparently being open doesn't include answering the telephone. What a let down. I am glad this is not a company that I own. If you purchase, I wish you better luck than I had with this product.
Ironing not a chore anymore! July 16, 2008 Beth E. Settje (CT, USA) After using the same iron I received as a shower gift over ten years ago I decided to upgrate. Wow, what a difference a better iron makes. Wrinkles disappear on the first swipe. Steam is everywhere. The iron just easily glides over the clothes. Cannot over-recommend Rowenta or this product, as it is just great. Worth the purchase.
Great iron, if it only worked correctly May 28, 2008 wjb (Florida) This iron was a great product, even though I already had to replace the one I bought in December with this newer one. Now this one is doing the exact same thing - the auto-shut off button engages. Even though the iron is not sitting more than 15-20 seconds, just long enough to adjust the shirt or other item on the ironing board to continue ironing. We lose heat. We unplug it, it heats up again and shuts off promptly with the red light flashing. Unfortunately, I am going to buy a Black and Decker, GE, or whatever gives me longer than 3 months of service. I tried.
Effective iron...just like it's name! February 9, 2008 Mary M (California) I bought this iron (through Macy's) after using cheaper irons. This Rowenta iron is the best iron I've EVER used! It is worth paying a little extra for this iron. The steam works great and ironing is much quicker with it...I love it!
Save your money January 31, 2008 Cathy (Colorado) The iron has several drawbacks. The first two involve the retractable cord. The snap back of the cord has injured me and my kitchen cabinets because of the speed and the whiplash effect. The cord attachment angle is such that the cord falls under the bottom of the iron when placing it upright on the board. Thus, after ironing a section, an awkward twirl of the wrist is required to set the iron firmly on the board. Therefore, the retractable cord is neither safe nor ergonomically sound. The second area of drawbacks is the shutoff feature. The iron shuts off after about 30 seconds whether the iron is upright or in its slanted holder attached to my board. To heat it again, I have to tilt it up and tilt it down and then wait for it to reheat. A time waster and also not good ergonomics. The third area of drawbacks is the steam function. The iron steams only at the highest temperature setting and does not steam for very long. In order to produce steam again, the iron must shutoff and then turn on again. I'm in the market for a new iron. Anyone know of a good one?
