5 out of 5 stars Eureka Cordless/rechargeable Vacuum, Model 96 D/F   November 1, 2008
m bennett (KS USA)
This is the second one of these I have purchased within 6 months time! Need I say more? Of course it's not so powerful as those 20-pound plugged in models, so don't expect that kind of suction. But for quick pickups, or if you cannot carry the big ones up and down stairs, this is a satisfactory substitute. The rotating brush slows it down just a little, but it's worth the tradeoff to pick up lint, etc., on carpet. I highly recommend it... and the price is right!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Hard Surface Floors   October 18, 2008

I've owned this vac for over a year and have to say that it's perfect for what it was intended. My entire kitchen and living room area are hard wood and constantly have a host of crumbs and dirt from shoes from my husband and kids. We don't have any pets but we have plenty of crushed Cheerios from my 1 year old and 5 year old.

First off, this is the second cordless vac I've owned and I was constantly frustrated w/the bad battery life of my old one. So right when I bought this I went to the website and bought an extra battery. Do yourself a favor and do this!! I leave one plugged in all the time and switch out before each time I vacuum. (manual says it's ok to leave plugged in all the time without damaging) This way I always have a full battery and have plenty of juice to sweep the whole floor.

Let's be realistic...this is basically a Dust Buster on a stick. I didn't replace my main vacuum with this but have found that it has excellent suction on my hard wood floor and has no problem at all sucking up daily debris. In fact, it does better on my hard wood than my Hoover. Will it pick up entire Cheerios at a time? No, but it's not a shop vac folks!

I empty the dirt cup about every other time and when the filter gets gross from wool fuzz from my area rugs I just use the hose from my regular vacuum to suck it clean. (I've also bought a couple of replacement filters over the year from their website but only have replaced it once.)

I love this vacuum and have recommended it to all of my friends.

I have had this item for over a year. Only good thing was it was on clearance for $12.50 i would NEVER pay more than $10 for it.
Oh sure like every vacuum out there it works fine the first few times you use it, however the biggest issue i had with this was the design is horrible. You take out the dust cup then have to remove the filter and hope you don't jostle it too much and get it all over yourself and the floor that you just tried to vacuum. Does not pick up well on floor mode and on carpet mode it just starts to push stuff around after about the 12th time of using it.
Does not get corners well and lost suction faster than any other stick vac i have used. I would never tell anyone to get this thing unless you have money to waste.
Also seems the more you take out the dust cup the less it will stay in from the wear and tear of being removed plus the handle gets loose after time too. Also i have yet to find a filter replacement for this and since it is not a washable until which by now every vacuum should have you will end up spending problably just as much to buy a new unit as you will to get a new filter. The filter will not hold up too much after three months of light use.
Not a good product.

2 out of 5 stars Do NOT Recommend   September 20, 2008

I've had this for about 6 months now. I would NOT recommend it - I'm sure there are better ones out there.
Power - Picks up pet hair fine, does not pick up leaves. You must run it in carpet mode, even on bare floors, or the brush will get loaded up with what you're vacuuming and stop picking up stuff until the brush is cleaned.
Noise - loud enough to where you won't be having a conversation while vacuuming. I don't care about decibel levels - either you can talk to someone without yelling or not. With this vacuum, you cannot. I really don't care about the noise, I'm not looking for a conversation while vacuuming anyway, but this one is fairly loud.
Number 1 Complaint - the dust cup. This is the kind where you take off the cup, then pull out the fabric filter which is approximately the size of the entire dust cup, then dump the cup in the trash and scrape off all the hair and dirt caught on the filter. All this time the dust and dirt you've just vacuumed up is going all over the place. For this reason alone I would not buy this vacuum, and will be shopping for a different one. I have a Black&Decker hand-held DustBuster that has a much smaller filter element so doesn't have the same problem. I may look to them for their upright models, or anyone that doesn't have this ridiculous dust cup design.

After 7 years of faithful service my much used Eureka Quick Up sucked it's last fur ball. I'm on #2 and love it so much I ordered #3 for future use and 2 for gifts. My sister said she loved, loved, loved it and doesn't know how she got along without it.
