MY WOOD FLOORS HAD BEEN DULL FOR YEARS - MY FAMILY THINKS I HAD THEM REDONE! December 31, 2008 Official Reviewer (Chicago) I was skeptical. Yes I was. In fact, it sat on the shelf for months and months until my husband decided to use it. Months before we don't know what possessed him to use lemon furniture cleaner--I guess he couldn't take the non-shiny floors anymore. So he used Holloway House on the floors - when I got home - I could NOT believe how beautiful my dull floors looked - and that was just with one mopping. The more we walked on our socks on the floor, the shinier it seemed to get. It was amazing. I mop my floors my wood floors regularly, but only use Holloway house every other month or so - it leaves the floors just gorgeous. If you let it dry and mop it 2-3 more times, the shinier it is. In fact, my mother came by for Thanksgiving and she immediately said - 'you didn't tell me you had your floors done!" She could not believe all of that shine came from the bittle lottle (had to do that -- okay -little bottle). It leaves no residue, not stickyness, nothing - and I have nothing but wood floors all over my 4 bedroom house - with exception to my den and bathrooms which are tile -- it cleans those too! Just squirt it on the area and immediately mop (with a damp mop) as you go - so squirt and mop. Make sure you mop it right away and do not leave on floors because it will dry pretty quickly on the spots where you squirted it. I HIGHLY recommend this product if you have dull floors.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! October 3, 2008 Cleaning Lady (VA) I clean professionally and have used this product at the insistance of a client. It looks great initially...BUT there are huge problems later. You absolutely MUST vacuum and mop thoroughly BEFORE even thinking of squirting QS on your floor. If you do not, then hair, dirt and who knows what will be trapped under a shellac-like layer that only comes off with scraping. It is NOT waterproof and will turn white if water is allowed to stay on it. Then it will flake off. If you have a dog, it's claws will scratch the "finish" and make it look like your floors are ruined. My client had used this stuff everyday and it had turned her beautiful wood floors to a roughed-up looking dull color with dog hair and bits of ick trapped underneath. It truly looks awful. I wouldn't recommend this junk to my worst enemy!! It is the biggest rip-off! You will ruin your floors and cause yourself or someone else a huge hassle later.
Gleam On July 18, 2008 Linda Donahue (Southbury, CT USA) Quick Shine by Holloway House was recommended to me by my cleaning service. One of the girls brought me a bottle and I immediately noticed the luster on my wood floors. Having trouble finding it locally, I purchased an inferior substitute. Today the cleaning team was here and I asked them how they liked the product I had on hand. They said it did not have the shine that Quick Shine does. And I agree. So I turned to Amazon to order it and now await several bottles of this excellent product to arrive. Highly recommended.
Good luck when it starts wearing off. July 17, 2008 BronteFan 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Yes, it will make your floors shine...for a while. Then it begins to wear off, leaving an ugly white, waxy residue that has to be scraped off. We used this on our floors, and after a while it wore off in streaks. When trying to remove the rest of it, we had to get down on our hands and knees and scrape it off with Brillo pads. If that hadn't worked, we would have had to hire a floor repair company to remove this gunk. This leaves such a think residue that scraping didn't even harm the wood. Get your floors professionally refinished properly. This is a temporary solution that only leads to more aggravation later on.
a great face lift for your floors July 11, 2008 third time mom (Naperville, IL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
now here we have a product that does what it's supposed to. You start with clean floors (take the time to be extra careful cleaning). Then apply this product. I squirt on an "s" shape, about 3'x4' rectangle. Then spread it with a damp mop (new head) or I've also used my regular old Swiffer with a piece of old t-shirt covering the head. It comes out of the bottle milky looking but won't look milky by the time you spread it out. I find it takes about 20 minutes to dry to the point where I'd let someone walk on it. Allow plenty of time for applying; if you miss a little piece it's very noticable. For that reason alone plan on two coats. I get a good two coats on and then might put a new one on after a few months. To QuickShine my kitchen and entryway's wood floors I'll use about 2/3 of a bottle, so buy two so you'll have enough for the second coat. If you Quickshine over a stray loose hair or crumb it will get stuck in the finish. In my current house I have wood floors; it's great to get that shiny new floor look for just a few dollars and a couple of hours of work. It's *really* expensive to have wood floors professionally refinished and you have to move out for three days! Nor do I want to refinish my floors and then have to worry about keeping my kids from being kids in our home. In my old house I used this product on very worn vinyl tiles. It did make them look MUCH much better, but seemed to wear off in noticable chunks on that type of surface. My only other warning is this: Your floors will look so terrific that your wooden baseboards then look dull and shabby in comparison. I've been tempted to Quickshine those as well but then the door moulding would look bad, the cupboards, etc.
