 Good brush/terrible battery & charging November 30, 2008

This "new and improved" scumbuster "extreme" has a good main brush. It gets into corners better than the original. But, the original had replaceable batteries, the VersaPak silver and VersaPak gold batteries. This hunka-junk has permanently installed batteries. And the instructions say to charge it FOR SIXTEEN HOURS!!! WHAT??? Absurd.
They've discontinued the VersaPak, they don't make any more VersaPak tools. They now have a VPX Li-Ion system, but, this doesn't use it. Maybe they'll do a VPX scum buster in the future.
In short, my recommendation: buy a classic Scum Buster used or in closeout or something. And get some VersaPak Gold batteries. Get the VP135 rapid charger. Or a VP160 if you can find it, but they are hard to come buy.

I love this gadget. It has helped me keep my bath tub, kitchen granite counter tops, bathroom floors (3 bathrooms), kitchen sinks, shower pan, and kitchen stainless steel hood sparkling clean. I do all this on just one charge. I just add a few drops of liquid detergent on the cleaning pad, and let it do the work.
I gave this as a gift to an elderly lady who used to have a maid come and clean her kitchen and bathrooms. Now she does all that herself. This has saved her hundreds of dollars.
It is a great tool to maintain a clean house. It definitely is not an answer for very heavy duty chores. For the price, it's definitely worth it.

I find that mine works great on tile and the tub. I haven't had any trouble with the battery, it charges fine and gives longer use that it says, I get an hour or so.
Here is the thing that is driving me insane, it doesn't say how to get new scrub pads!! I don't know if the SBP4 will fit but the manual doesn't give a number for replacement pads so I called black and decker and *they* didn't know either ARGH!
Has anyone replaced the pads?

Does a great job on my on my shower. Saves a lot of stress om my back. Very powerful and very well made. A real bargain for what you receive.
