Amazon.com Review A great gift, this seven-piece set equips a cook with five essential kitchen knives, a 9-inch sharpening steel to keep blade edges aligned, and a hardwood block to store knives and steel on the counter. The knives are a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, a 5-3/4-inch utility knife, an 8-inch carving knife, an 8-inch bread knife to slice crusty loaves, and an 8-inch chef's knife for rocking through chopping and mincing tasks. The knives don't have bolsters and are stamped, not forged from stainless steel. The steel is of lesser quality than Henckels' premier lines. Handles are also formed of stainless steel, and their satin finish contrasts stylishly with the blades. The knives are dishwasher-safe and carry a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack What's in the Box 3-1/2-inch parer, 5-3/4-inch utility, 8-inch slicer, 8-inch chef's knife, 8-inch bread knife, 9-inch steel, hardwood block

Beautiful and functional. November 10, 2008 Heather Winkler (Salt Lake City, UT. USA) Unlike most of the reviews here, I really enjoy my knife set. I am an avid cook and these work fine for me. They do need to be sharpened on occasion but the sharpening tool works great and they sharpen up nicely. The set is beautiful and looks like brushed stainless. The knives feel good in the hand and arent really heavy and akward. I have owned this set for 2 years now and still use it daily. I wouldnt pay over $200 for them but for what I paid (around $70) I find them to be just what I was looking for.
Great Knives, Cheesy Block May 7, 2007 L. Husick (PA, United States) These knives are wonderful. Got them on sale for < $60, and they are really worth it. The knife block, on the other hand, is junk. Didn't need it though, so it's a win.
I expected more April 13, 2007 Bobby (Irvine, California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These knives looked much better on the picture than when I got them. They are nice and sharp but not as heavy or as nice as I expected from Henckels. But then again they are the International version which is the ONE GUY thingie and not as nice! They are also Stamped steel if you care that they are forged or not. They are light weight and look great, so if you like knives that are not too heavy in your hand then these are the ones for you. I like a heavy handle and more weight so that it feels substantial in your hand and not like a 5 dollar knife, So all in all it's "You get what you pay for"
great knives! January 12, 2007 M. Holmes (Georgia) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
these knives are so sharp and they look great. i am not a professional chef or care to be, but these knives are more than capabale of handling everyday kitchen tasks easily such as cutting vegetables for a salad or trimming fat off a chicken breast. i also have the miracle blade knives and these henckels are so much better and sharper than those knives. the only thing is that the block is very light and apt to tip over when pulling out a knife.
GREAT set for the price November 7, 2006 Cheryl A. Webster (Southeast, Wisconsin USA) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I purchased this knife set in Nov. 2005. I knew that for the price I was not getting the German Henckels so I went in with my eyes open unlike other reviewers. I just needed a good set of affordable knives. The first thing that I absolutely love is NO RIVETS! I am so tired of wooden handled knives that have the rivets break or the wood warp. These are one streamlined piece of metal that isn't going to warp or break. I am happy that there is a sharpening iron with the set. ALL knives need to be sharpened when used regularly. As long as you know how to use a sharpening iron, these knives are ALWAYS sharp. If you don't use the iron correctly then you will be disappointed which isn't the manufacturer's fault. I've had these knives now for one year and with regular sharpening and cleaning there isn't a speck of rust anywhere on them. I have washed them by hand and in a dishwasher also and they've weathered the year perfectly. They are strong, sharp, durable, feel good in the hand, and worth every penney I paid for them last year. I only gave them 4 out of 5 since I find it hard to find "the perfect" knife set unless you spend at least the price of a mid-size car monthly payment.
