Wow. This is a great buy. This cleaver has the weight, balance and construction quality of a knife costing 3 or 4 times as much as this one. Full tang, heavy weight, high quality steel, full/thick handle & nicely sharpened right out of the package.
We have a full selection of Wusthof and/or Henckels chef knives and this cleaver rivals their quality and performance. We decided to buy this knife based off our previous experience with Farberware Pro steak knives and we are happy with this addition to our knife block.
We would buy this product again or recommend it to a friend.
Opens Coconuts Well March 21, 2008

I bought this solely for opening coconuts. It does a good job. The point end near the handle is perfect for gouging a hole to drain the liquid, and then the blade gets the top off. I have wusthoffs for my other knives, but didn't need anything fancy for this purpose. Great value.

Use this cleaver to chop chicken and turkey parts for my dogs. I buy necks, backs and parts from the local Asian market. I also buy whole turkeys when they are on sale. The cleaver easily cuts through all the bones with little effort. For under $20.00 I didn't expect the level of quality and the weight of the cleaver, I expected something light and cheap, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I use this cleaver nearly every day and would buy it again.
