Product Description Similar to a butcher knife, the Japanese-style santoku knife is a multipurpose gem for slicing, cubing, or dicing. Available in 5" or 7", the distinctive hollow-ground edge that alternates scallops on both sides of the blade, and yields a smooth, clean cut.
About Wusthof Classic: Precision-forged blades of Wusthof's own high-carbon, stain-resistant steel alloy, for a lasting edge that is easy to resharpen. Distinctive bolster prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade. Handle is a virtually indestructible composite, buffed by hand for a smooth finish and triple-riveted to the full tang for optimum strength and balance. Dishwasher safe, but hand-washing is recommended. Made in Solingen, Germany.

SIMPLY OUTSTANDING! December 1, 2008 Scott W. Nelson (Portland, Oregon) My professional background has been in the hospitality service industries for more than 20 years coming up through the ranks of food and beverage. I was a line dinner cook at the ager of 17. I have been putting this off this addition to my cutlery for too long. It does a fabulous job of fine slicing and dicing for smaller needs not requiring heavy prep. work. I am impressed on how sharp it is - WOW! This is a small light knife, that's very well balanced and feels great in the hand.
Excellent Knife October 2, 2008 Humble Hank (Fort Smith, AR) I have recently purchased the Wustof 7" Classic Santoku knive and am very pleased with it. It is the best and definetly the sharpest knive that I own. I also have knives from J.A. Henckles and R.H. Forschner and this knife is in a class above those. When stroked against a sharpening steel it even has a different higher pitched sound than the other two mentioned above, suggesting a higher quality knife steel with harder heat treating. The knife even right out of the box would slice ripe tomatoes with amazing ease. It is well balanced and was extreemly sharp right out of the box. Even with normal use it maintains it sharp edge suggestion extreem detail to initial sharpening angles. I would strongly recomend this to anyone that seeking a high quality kitchen knife.
The Perfect Knife September 29, 2008 Elaine Corwin (Concord, PA United States) If you don't have a knife fetish yet, this knife will start you on your way. Once you cut with a Wusthof, you'll never want to use anything else. I love this knife for chopping but what I really cherish it for is cutting translucent slices of onion, tomato, and pickle for sandwiches. I can't stand biting into a big chunk of onion. With this knife I slice lots of paper thin slices and interweave them with the other vegetables and meats. And shredding lettuce is a joy with this knife. I always get rave reviews on my sandwiches and until now, I've never let out the secret - it's those super thin slices of veggies. I'm not connected to Wusthof in any way although I really wish I was -- maybe I could get the knives at a discount. :) Still, they are worth every penny.
Great knife- don't deny yourself July 28, 2008 big baby (San Diego) I love to cook and have been doing so with a knife set I've had for years...I finally decided to get one good knife and this one is it! I had no idea cutting things was so easy! It is a good size for me (I am 5'10) as it is not too small for my hands or too big either. It literally falls thru the veggies and meat too- a good all around knife. If you can only afford one knife, this one would be a good choice. Don't deny yourself any longer- the price is worth it.
Awesome knife May 9, 2008 Ephraim Mallery (Denver, CO United States) The classic Wusthof knives are the best I have ever used, and the santoku knives are my favorite.
