Made from beautiful end grain bamboo, this mini-sized chopping board is perfect for the bar. Measuring 6.5-in. L x 6.5-in. W x 1.5-in. H, it is ideal for cutting lemons, limes, cheese and fruit. Do not put in the dishwasher: wash with warm soapy water and dry immediately, and occasionally restore with mineral oil to preserve the integrity of the bamboo. Bamboo is an excellent alternative to wood: equally beautiful and sturdy, it is without the high cost of harvesting, and unlike wood, bamboo is very quick to grow and harvest. This makes bamboo a much more ecologically friendly and superior choice over wood, which can take years or decades to mature. Bamboo is a also natural resource used for a variety of purposes, such as nourishment, medicine, construction and soil preservation. Moso, the type of bamboo most used to make kitchen accessories, is not used as a food source for Pandas, and has no damaging environmental effects to its harvest.

 Sticky label and stains September 7, 2007

As noted by one the reviewers, the label is impossible to remove. At all! I ended up with two huge glue stains that wouldn't come of. Maybe it needs to be sanded, but I don't think it's worth the trouble.

We use this on "the bar" for cutting lemons and limes. It's a great size for that function and because this board is attractive we don't feel the need to put it away after use.

For some reason, I thought this product would look different. The "bamboo texture" does not go all the way through. That is, when I cut on this board, the knife marks etch out the bamboo pattern on the wood. The pattern is only knife deep! So upon cutting the first item, it gets "scratched." I may be the only consumer in the world that did not understand how bamboo wood works, but I doubt it! On a positive note, the block is exactly the size and dimensions I expected, and I have "no other" complaints other than the above.

I absolutely love this cutting board. It works well with most knives (don't use the serrated knives with tiny teeth). The board is very forgiving with repeated cutting. They are very heavy and very attractive. The only complaint I have is the paper packaging stuck to the board. I've bought 3 of these and I couldn't get all of the "glue" off any of the boards. I eventually just put the oil on the boards to protect them and that somehow helped get most of the sticky residue off. MIU France really needs to use something that will not permanently stick to the boards. I'd give it a 5 star if the sticky residue and paper came off easily.
