The shears also incorporate several additional tools into their construction for assisting with a variety of other kitchen tasks. A hook cut out just below one of the handles serves as a bottle opener while two metal prongs at the ends of the handles work as both flat screwdrivers and lid lifters. Situated between the two handles are a plastic-coated nutcracker and two rows of jagged metal teeth that operate as a jar opener. For easier cleaning, the two blades on these shears come apart; however the hinge is rather loose and the blades do sometimes separate unexpectedly when opened to their widest position.
