Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
A true kitchen multi-tasker, this handy little 5-1/2-inch knife is perfect for cutting sandwiches, slicing small cuts of meat, paring fruits, and other small- to medium-scaled cutting jobs that don't require a more specialized blade. As a part of Chicago Cutlery's Walnut Tradition line of cutlery, it combines high performance with excellent value. Stamped rather than forged for lighter weight and a more reasonable price, the blade is made from high-carbon, 420 stainless steel with carbon to keep edges sharper longer and chromium to resist rust and stains, while Chicago's exclusive Taper Grind edge produces impressively precise slices and retains its sharpness well over time. A full tang extends from the tip of the knife to the end of the handle for improved balance and strength. A comfortable walnut handle offers the rich warmth of wood and a classic look; it's securely held to the blade with triple-compression brass rivets for added safety and stability. Chicago Cutlery covers their knives with a lifetime guarantee; they recommend hand-washing and drying for best results. --Mary Park

Product Description
Introducing the latest from Chicago Cutlery, designed for professional performance in the home kitchen. This 5.5-in. Utility Knife is designed for carving small cuts of meat, slicing fruits and vegetables and cutting sandwiches - essentially any job too big for a paring knife and too small for a carving knife. Each knife is handcrafted with a high-carbon 420 stainless steel blade, ergonomic, contoured walnut handle, full tang (where the blade extends from the tip of the knife to the end of the handle) and triple compression brass rivets. Exclusive Taper Grind edge ensures maximum precision and extra sharp cutting.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Knife   October 7, 2008

I purchased this product some while ago and it was misplaced. I found the exact same knife on Amazon.com. Needless to say I am well pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

4 out of 5 stars This is a knife...   November 15, 2007

Nothing fancy...just a knife. It's a nicely shaped hollow ground piece of stainless steel with a walnut handle, all secured together with three brass rivets. I use it at my office to cut cheese. Jarlsberg Swiss, to be precise. It was extremely sharp when delivered and it's highly unlikely that it will ever get dull with that taxing of a job; it certainly works better than the plastic knives that it replaced. The shaped grip fits well in my hand. My only complaint, and it's really minor, is that the blade sits a couple hundredths of an inch proud of the handle and you can feel it if you rub your hand across the top side of the handle. Then again, it was only $7 and change.

4 out of 5 stars A good basic knife.   March 28, 2007

I purchased this after my 20+ yr old Chicago Cutlery kitchen knife blade chipped. Only drawback to the new one is that the wooden handle feels a bit rough; however that should smooth out with use. A good buy for a good price. I expect it to last as long as my first one.

I purchased a set of 6 of Chicago's 5-1/2 cutlery knives and am very pleased with them. My Chef's Choice 130 sharpening station puts a beautiful steeled edge on them and it's a pleasure to use them in the kitchen.

This knife is well made, wood handels and steel non-rust blade. It takes a good edge and fits the hand well.
