This is a good spoon that is true to the description and measurements. Beech is a good strong wood and does not have the that cheap splintery feel you get from pine.

Solid, good rich color, adequate grip and very easy to manage. I only wish that the larger end of the spoon were a bit bigger.

I usually love the Mario Batali products. This tasting spoon, however, makes everything taste like wood, not what you are tasting. I learned in cooking school, the best tasting spoon is an old fashion flatware one!

A real tasting spoon has a grove between the 2 ends. You scope up the liquid in one end, let it flow down the grove to the other end where you taste it. This way you can taste the liquid multiple times with one spoon and not get your germs in the liquid.
