Product Description Add flavor faster! Instant marinater lets you marinate and season deep into your food in just 5 minutes, not hours. Great for meal preparation in a busy home or for the adventurous chef on the go. Simple to use. Place food in the marinater--you can stack food if you wish. Then create your own marinade and pour it over the food, along with any seasoning. Secure lid to the top and pump out the air to create a vacuum. Pumping action opens the pores of the meat, fish or other food, allowing the marinade to penetrate the food and flavor it in minutes! Top rack dishwasher-safe. 2 1/2 quart capacity.Marinates in minutes, not hoursPumping action creates a vacuum that opens the pores of the food, allowing the marinade to be absorbed in mere minutes. Enhances flavor, retains natural juicesMarinating adds flavor and protects fish, meat, poultry and vegetables from the heat of grilling, baking or pan searing. Preserves freshness, tooGreat for storing foods, too! The vacuum keeps meat fresh and vegetables crisp. The dish and lid are both made of Polycarbonate.

Excellent 2nd Generation Product December 21, 2008 Linda K. Benjamin (Germantown, TN) I used an earlier Vacu Vin marinator for some years, until it eventually cracked. These are wonderful units for doing a quick marinade of meats and vegetables. I pickle cucumbers and Grabanzo beans and I also do meats in it. This new unit is considerably bigger and appears sturdier. It uses the same simple rubber wine cork type pump down system which is easy to clean. Two things - First, don't overpump. It's not necessary and may promote cracking. Second, Lexan is hygroscopic at elevated temperatures which means it will absorb moisture which may eventually embrittle it and cause cracking, so I don't recommend using the dishwasher. It's easy enough to hand wash.
A big hit November 26, 2008 kzolady (Kalamazoo, Mi) I got this for my BIL. He grills and cooks alot. He loves it and use it all the time. I did tell him about the problem with over pumping and then refrigerating and imploding, so he hasn't had trouble with it.
Great Marinater - Use It Every Week November 12, 2008 Stephanie Rotter (Emeryville, CA United States) We love the Vacu Vin Vacuum Instant Marinater. We use is all the time. It seals the food and marinade so well inside the marinater it is great for taking tail gating. We use to marinade steaks, chicken, and even vegetables for kabobs. Great product. If you BBQ, you have to try it.
At last a long lost friend found! September 18, 2008 C. Doughty (Manchester, WA USA) Several years ago we were given a similar divise and learned to love it! This is the only type of marinating devise that allows you to forget and still "get her done"! Due to my misuse (too much vacuum) I broke my original. Until I found Vacu Vin at Amazon.com, I was without this devise. I've learned my lesson (as those who posted negetive reviews apparently haven't) and am very careful how much vacuum I pump and this devise has already improved several meals by allowing me to marinate something I forgot to do in a timely manner. As a matter of fact, I can now thaw, marinate, and cook a delicious meal from arrival at home to dinner on the table, at a reasonable time, using my Vacu Vin.
Husband just got out a mallet... September 12, 2008 Summersun (Minneapolis, MN USA) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is our first time using the Vacu Vin (we are using the 'improved' model), and the poor guy has been trying to get the dang thing open for 15 minutes, just so we can cook dinner. At this point, we could give a rip about the rubber seal. I have resorted to surfing for troubleshooting help because there are no warnings nor instructions in the product manual re: pressurization or release... and no apparent means to get the lid to release. Oh, wait- I just heard a huge pop. It appears that a needlenose pliers did the trick. The lid is in two pieces, but our chicken dinner appears intact.
