Product Description If you grew up in the 1940's and 1950's, it's more likely you saw a coffee percolator like this one on your parents' stovetop. The origins of the percolator go back to about 1818 in France. Prior to that, coffee was made in vacuum pots or was boiled. By the middle to late 1800's travelers immigrating to the United States from Europe brought these percolators with them. Many of these pots made coffee for families that used wood stoves on their journey westward. This Farberware model follows that classic design but is made of stainless steel. It's easy to use, clean, and maintain. You can expect years of quality service from this coffee maker. Farberware has added a stay-cool handle to help make pouring a lot easier. It truly is a classic refined.
Amazon.com Review Sleek and contemporary, this gleaming percolator brews from four to eight cups of coffee on the stovetop for full, old-fashioned flavor. A permanent filter basket (no messy paper filters needed) provides modern efficiency. The handle is synthetic (to stay cool) and slightly textured, a combination ensuring safe, comfortable pouring. Because the percolator is made of highly polished 18/10 stainless steel, the beauty of its gleaming mirror finish is long-lasting. To fully maintain the finish, the percolator should be hand washed, although the filter basket and glass cap can go into the dishwasher. The percolator stands 8-1/2 inches high on a 6-1/4-inch-diameter base. --Fred Brack

replaced our electric coffee pot January 8, 2009 BorderGranny (North Country, NY) originally ordered because of a two-day stint without electricity following a storm, but it's now replaced the electric coffee pot almost 100% of the time......very well made
perky perk January 7, 2009 Regina Whitsel (Warren, Ohio) I ordered this for my 86 year old mother who was prefers perked coffee and was tired of replacing her electric pots ever other year. It arrived much quicker than expected, ordered Thursday nigh and received on Monday, good quality that should last a long time. Thanks for a great product and service
Coffee as it was meant to Taste January 7, 2009 El Officianado (Florida, USA) Makes coffee just like my Dad made it. I thought his art was lost as I have not made a decent cup of coffee in many years. I have had a sundry of coffee makers over the years. Electric percolators (burnt coffee taste), automatic drip coffee makers (weak and sometimes scorched taste), and automatic drip coffee makers with thermal carafes (weak taste and a pain to clean). I finally bought this percolator after reading its many reviews on Amazon. Finally, coffee as it was meant to taste. For whatever technical reason, this stovetop percolator produces a full and robust cup of coffee. The coffee maker is decently constructed; made of stainless steel vice aluminum; and has a nice polished exterior finish (which for any of you kitchen fashion minded people matches Calphalon Tri-Ply cookware). I am well satisfied with this product and recommend it to anyone interested in a good stovetop percolator at a reasonable price.
hottest coffee you've had in a long time January 7, 2009 E. King (houston,tx) If you like hot coffee, well brewed...go back to the old fashioned percolator. Just bought this as a gift for a family member coffee hasn't tasted this good in a long time.
"Classic" Percolator a/k/a BEST December 20, 2008 Paula Mastroianni (The Big Apple!) Oh, what a fabulous, good, old-fashioned (excuse me, "classic") coffee pot this is! I LOVE it, especially the common-sense design of a FLAT sturdy bottom that doesn't allow flames to burn the handle. Whoever started that ridiculous top-heavy, narrow-bottom trend should be flogged. GREAT product, from a TRADITIONALLY ("classic"...?) great company!
