Works well on my new le creuset skillet August 17, 2008 ellina (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this when I got my new skillet grill and have been using it to wipe away stains and burn marks on the enameled surface after cooking. It does a great job of removing fresh stains without scratching the surface. I'd definitely recommend this for le creuset cookware to keep it looking brand new. Judging from other reviews, i think it will be useful only on fresh stains.
overal very good July 21, 2008 Irnbru4u (outside seattle, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are buying a brand new cast iron enamel item or have some that are perfect then this is great. I use it every time and it takes marks of very easily. Make sure it is mostly dry and use a dry cloth with it if there is water it dilutes it and makes more elbow grease for you, be generous with it then rinse of and great. I have one pan though that I wasn't as particular with and didn't use it once and it now has a ground in brown mark in the enamel (it is clean) and it won't come out after the fact so use it every time. I have 5 different big le creuset pots.
Same or better results from Bon Ami cleanser July 9, 2008 CrochetKatie (Houston, TX United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have owned Le Creuset products for years and have heard suggestions for everything from Soft Scrub to salt for cleaning. I recently changed to earth-friendly products and have been using Bon Ami cleanser in my home. It is noted on the can that it's recommended by Chantal, Corning Ware, Farberware among many others for cleaning their cookware so I thought I'd give it a try on the interior of my Le Creuset. Works like magic, rinses clean and does not scratch. Gets that last little bit of "stuff" out that your scrubbie pad can't seem to get off, removes light stains. Best of all, it only costs about $1 for a whole can! Try it on your stainless pots & pans, too. I bought the Le Creuset cleaner recently to see if it would get the brown spots off the underside of my pans but it didn't work & unfortunately nothing seems to. Be careful if you have an electric stove that your stove burners do not damage the bottom of your Le Creuset, mine have - I did not have this problem when I cooked on a gas stove. All in all the Le Creuset cleaner does not work any better than Bon Ami, so I will save my money in the future.
Save your money! July 5, 2008 William V. Powell (San Francisco Peninsula) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
As the owner and user of 10 various sized Le Creuset enameled cookware for over 35 years, I'm here to tell you that this stuff is a total waste of money. It does NOT remove stains from the interior of a Le Creuset item. When Le Creuset America was contacted to honor their performance guarantee, their response was to return it to the retailer. A more effective, and certainly more economical cleaning alternative to use is Bon Ami.
Not worth the money May 20, 2008 Eclectic bagpiper (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My reason for purchase was to see if this would get red of mild stains caused by pot roasts, cassoulets and other preparations involving red wine. I have always washed the dutch ovens by hand, with hot water and mild soap -- never in the dishwasher. The enamel, especially at the bottom, had became a tad browner every time I put it in the oven. I wondered if I could have the pale-cream surface back, and bought this. Sadly, I have had no success at all with this solution. I don't think that using this cleaner from the get-go would have been brilliant, because it made absolutely no difference to the stains. Maybe Le Creuset enamel gets colored from red wine tannins and they don't advertise it?
