Looks so cute October 30, 2007 Isabella's Mom (Tennessee) This is a splurge item of course! I can't say that it serves any magical purpose like the french oven, but it looks adorable on my countertop and is a great addition to a growing collection of LC. I currently use it for salt, but I can't wait to use it on the table for a dip when we have dinner guests.
very cute & VERY sturdy! September 18, 2007 starrryswirl 2 days after getting this i heard my kittens knock this over onto the marble floor! this is a VERY STURDY item! it's fine; it didn't even chip it or break the stem! it was bigger than i thought it would be after reading the other reviews. it would be great to hold a dip or a small side for 2. currently mine is a sugar bowl ; )
You should probably try to see this in a store before buying online.... August 2, 2007 Wolf in Sheep's Clothing (in the dry, hot, dark of the desert) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Why? Because it is very small. And, it's not made of Le Creuset cast iron, but of Le Creuset stoneware -- a big difference. That said, it's very cute and a great little pot -- I use a fleet of these to make little pumpkin breads. They're also good for pumpkin pudding (otherwise known as pumpkin pie without the crust....) On all the little Le Creuset "petites" you need to know that the capacity is highly overstated. If it says 12 ounces, assume 10. If it says 10 ounces, assume 8. And, if like some of the fruit shapes they give you 5" x5" dimensions, just know that they're including handles and lid-knobs and the volume is probably under 8 ounces. This is okay for single servings of desert, but that's about it. I think Le Creuset had an identity crisis about the time they started making this little "petite" line because the first ones were all really made of cast iron like the larger versions -- but then the second wave has been pottery except for the occasional slip baqck into cast iron. Being consistant is just too much trouble for them, I suppose.
Accessory to your Le Creuset pumpkin cast iron November 8, 2006 Joanna Daneman (Middletown, DE USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is another in the series of stoneware crock/casseroles that match Le Creuset's cast iron enamel cookware. This goes from oven to table or can be used to refrigerate hors d'oeuvres or cold spreads. It can also be used as a side dish server that goes from oven to table with a small side dish. It only holds a cup and a half or so, so this is really a small table accessory. If you entertain a lot, a set of the vegetable stoneware make nice table serving pieces.
This Teeny Tiny Pumpkin June 13, 2006 D. Bailey (Seoul, S. Korea) 40 out of 42 found this review helpful
is made in Thailand, not France as you would expect from a Le Creuset item. In the product description, it says, "Festive and fun. Welcome fall with the addition of these petite pumpkin casseroles to your set. Serve up individual servings of pumpkin soup or fill it with cinnamon for an added spice of life. Superior CAST IRON construction retains and distributes heat quickly and evenly. Limited lifetime warranty." This product is part of the Le Creuset stoneware line and IS NOT cast iron. The lid is not at all tight fitting, either. This casserole is very small. I know 12 oz isn't much, but I did think it would be big enough to hold at least enough food for an individual casserole serving. As a (very) proud owner of 16 pieces of Le Creuset, it saddens me to have to give this only 3 stars, but I had to deduct because of the poor fitting lid, it being made in Thailand, the incorrect product discription and the size. On the plus side, it is very cute!
