Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Made of sturdy steel, this very striking 16-qt. Stockpot is worth its weight in style and function. Although it's not made of cast iron like it's cookware counterparts (you'd need Paul Bunyan to lift it!), the steel coated with double-enamel conducts heat evenly and rapidly and the exterior holds up to everyday use. Great for professional or home kitchens. Dual side handles are large enough for a secure grip and the chrome-rimmed lid sits snugly on top to seal in juices and flavors. Complements other Le Creuset cookware in the same color. About Le Creuset...Since 1925, artisans have been crafting Le Creuset cookware in the French village of Fresnoy Le Grand. Each piece of Le Creuset cast iron cookware is handcast, polished, double enamel-coated and then fired, resulting in some of the finest quality cookware available. Cast iron is one of the best materials for distributing heat gently and thoroughly and is ideal for induction ranges. The strong enamel coating will not absorb odors or flavors, and is easy to clean. Heavy lids securely seal in moisture and flavor. Le Creuset cookware comes in a variety of sizes, colors and styles to match any kitchen and cooking preference. So lasting, you'll pass it on to the next generation of promising cooks.

Amazon.com Review
This 16-quart stockpot from Le Creuset is an essential piece of equipment for any serious home cook, especially those with large-scale needs. Designed to coordinate with Le Creuset's classic line of enameled cast-iron cookware, the stockpot and lid are made of carbon steel coated with enamel; the pot has a steel rim to prevent chipping. It heats quickly and evenly--essential when reducing stocks--and the white enamel interior prevents the pot from absorbing odors and flavors so that your beef bouillon doesn't taste like the last fish stock you prepared. The glossy, colorful exterior makes it attractive enough to go from the stove directly to your table. This stockpot's sturdy construction, fine craftsmanship, and timeless design ensure that it will be an item you'll have in your kitchen for a long time. --Pamela Zytnicki

5 out of 5 stars Le Creuset Stock Pot 16 quart   October 18, 2008
Meg I. Hennessey
I have a smaller Le Creset 8 quart stock pot that would be a bit too small. I debated whether to get the 12 or 16 quart. I'm glad I got the 16 quart. It is not small but does fit in my cabinet. I use it for large amounts of corn on the cob, spaghetti and soup for crowds.
If you don't feed crowds go with the 8 or 12 quart.
The quality is excellant. Yes it is a bit pricey but it doesn't warp and I need a flat bottom for my glass/ceramic cooktop. I had other stock pots but over time they would warp. This is not cast iron so you do NOT heat the pot without something in it.

5 out of 5 stars Love it, don't know what others are talking about   April 3, 2008

I purchased the same exact pot in the 8-quart capacity for $15 2 months ago but since that size is no longer available I will review this size as it's the same pot.I have used this pot several times and absolutely love it, it's a great STOCKPOT. I've made sauces and soups and a number of other dishes in it and have no complaints; it preforms well each time and it is a very handsome pot.One person said this pot gave off a chemical smell and that the enamel started chipping/melting but they also said they were using it on HIGH HEAT. If you read the instructions it specifically says NOT to use this pot over high heat. Also I am betting that person didn't wash the pot before the first use either. Sometimes when a pot is brand new it is coated with something that must be washed off before using it for the first time -- this could explain the chemical smell they experienced. It pays to read the instructions. Don't blame the pot or Le Creuset, blame it on the incompetent user.As for the other user that is comparing it to their cast iron dutch oven -- this is a STOCKPOT, an enamel-coated stockpot, not a CAST IRON dutch oven. Apples and oranges and you can't compare the two.

1 out of 5 stars Not up to their cast iron quality   March 28, 2008

I purchased this thinking that it would match the quality of my Le Creuset dutch oven...Not even close..The bottom is almost completely chipped away. I would not recommend this to anyone.

For those of you that chipped your pots, that's because you should have been using a plastic or silicone utensil. you're not supposed to use anything else. it's just common sense. this stock pot is amazing. beautiful color too. Macy's just had the 16qt on sale for $17.99. It just went back up to $60 though.

3 out of 5 stars Forget the name   February 19, 2008

Good pot. Not bulletproof Le Creuset. Kind of reminds me of a "value line" that manufacturers put out sometimes. The stay looking good outside, use kid gloves inside. Easy for the sauces/ soups to stick if not careful. Ours is 3-4 years old with minimal usage. Like our stainless better.
