Please read the instructions! November 11, 2008 Quinn (Austin, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a rebuttal to Jessie's review. She asserts that the water heater doesn't accurately heat the water to her desired temperature. What she doesn't know is that the water heater always boils the water first to drive out the chlorine, then the temperature drifts down to it's preset limit where it is kept warm. What Jessie needs to do is to fill the unit before bed, set the timer and when she wakes up she will be rewarded with water at her desired temperature. It will keep the water at that temperature until she fills it again, then it will boil the water again, and let it drift down to her pre-set temperature. This is a terrific little unit: efficient, accurate, and a joy to those who read their instructions.
Excellent water boiler September 18, 2008 eggy168 (Boston, MA) I think it is a great water boiler although I need to email the manufacturers to check some of the functions. However, they were so nice to reply right away. I like this product a lot.
Keeps the house cool, and has plenty of volume September 4, 2008 online shopper (Tualatin, OR United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Our previous model water boiler worked just fine, but the CV-DSC40 is a really big step forward. For one thing, it doesn't heat up our un-airconditioned home since it is a basically a thermos. It gets up to 208 degrees, (where we set it, although it can stay at 3 different temps) and stays there nicely. When you touch the exterior, it doesn't transfer the heat like our previous one did. Another thing we really, really like is the 4 liter capacity. Whenever we have company, that extra liter makes a huge difference! Our previous model had 3 liters, and it was amazing how often we had to figure out when we could add more water so as to not mess up the tea drinkers plans. One last upgrade for us is that it has the electric dispenser button. I realized that most of them do this now, but our earlier model was ancient enough that it was getting harder to operate, and people that had arthritis, or weak hands, had difficulty dispensing water. Electric pump is the only way to fly, I've discovered! You can read other info about the many nifty features this one has, and they all seemed to work just great. One of these days, however, I'd like to figure out how to disable the little tune it plays every time it comes up to temp after adding water. It's not a big issue, but it does get annoying after awhile. A simple beep would suffice. But overall, it still get 5 stars!
Worked well until cockroaches invaded! May 16, 2008 Wei Tsang (Guttenberg, NJ) 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
I wish I could still use this thing, but it's sitting on my dining room table now, unplugged and without water. My problem is that roaches love the warm space this thing provides through all its nooks and crannies, like the steam outlet. Roaches go inside and chill, sometimes fall into the reservoir for a dip. Occasionally, these critters find themselves taking a sort of water park ride and end up sloshing through the pump mechanism and shoot out of the machine to take a dip into what would've been my quick french press for the morning (for me, it's a classic food shock, dismay, disgust experience that ends up ruining my day). It's like a spa for bugs, at least in my crappy apartment. Yes, I'm probably a slob, and I should put traps and stow away my food, throw away trash asap, etc etc By the way, there's absolutely nothing wrong with this thing, just letting you folks who might have a bug problem know that this sort of stuff can happen. I mean, it's practically the top of the line water boiler. If you drink tea or make coffee this is a real time saver. I'm probably going to fall back on old technology (tea kettle).
