Used as directed, it's disappointing. If you throw the cover away, you can use the fine sieve to make exceptionally good coffee. Cleanup is quicker than with a French press, and you can drink each cup as it's brewed.
Coffee water should be hotter than tea water but not boiling. Dump the coffee into the water and cover. In four minutes it will be ready to pour through the sieve into a drinking cup. You will probably have to interrupt your pour to dump grounds out of the sieve.
After thousands of cups over several years, my sieve still seems like new.

The price of $1 is too much. This thing may look like it should work but it doesn't. It works on the same theory that permanent filters for auto-drip machines do. First, it doesn't hold enough coffee grounds to make a proper cup of coffee (unless you love a tepid, wimpy cup that is...). Second, coffee grounds leak through the mesh screening that supposed to contain it and thats using a standard store bought grind. Third, it's very very cheaply made.
I fully realize that given the price one shouldn't expect much but why even sell it if it can't even do what it is advertised to do? If you want to make a single cup without a machine use the method they do in Puerto Rico and Dominica , a nylon "sock" and boiling water. It makes a delicious cup without a lot of mess.
