We really liked this scale and used it every day for over a year. Today, I rinsed it off with the faucet in the sink. It read error. It no longer works at all. I changed the batteries and it said one last error and will no longer come on. Nice good loking scale that works great until you get it wet.

Love this scale - it looks like a champ - 10 stars for style points if that was allowed.
There is a switch on the bottom side to have it default to either pounds or kilograms when you first turn it on - common lazy people, just inspect the darn thing before you use it and decide to write bad review.
The 4 buttons are (from left to right):
1. Switch between pounds and kilograms
2. Switch between liquid measurements (fluid ounces and milliliters)
3. "On"/"Zero" (tare)
4. "Off"
As another reviewer stated, the weight elements are curiously and unfortunately in the 4 "feet," and not the glass scale itself. Therefore, if you push on any part of the scale while it is in place, the weight measuring goes into effect.
This is not a problem for me yet as I have no need to measure multiple things in subsequence, but I can definitely see a problem for other users.
But on the whole, it is a beautiful scale, and for my use, it's awesome.

I received the Salter Kitchen Scale as a gift, and at first I was unsure how much I would use it. But now I find myself reaching for it all the time when I bake or cook. The scale provides more exact measurements of ingredients than traditional measuring cups, which I have found helps to achieve better results, particularly when I'm baking. I've also found that using the scale eliminates the need to wash measuring cups midway through a recipe when I run out of measuring cups. Since any bowl or plate can be used on the scale, I can simply weigh the item I need and move on.
I was a bit concerned about the glass platform on the scale, but so far it hasn't been an issue (it's very sturdy) and it's actually really easy to clean up. I would recommend this scale to others looking for a solid but reasonably priced kitchen scale.

At first this scale performed well. After several months I observed the digital readout changing numbers while sitting on the counter. I would then place something on the scale and even after ten seconds the numbers began changing again. I do not trust this scale. I did replace the batteries but this change of numbers continued.
I would not buy this product again.
